Opposition manifesto untenable, says Muhyiddin

SIBU, April 8 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin today took to task the opposition for making empty promises in its manifesto in every election.
He said the "ubah" (change) slogan in the manifesto of the opposition pact of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), DAP and PAS for the April 16 Sarawak state election was being played like a "broken record".
"The Barisan Nasional (BN) which sees the bigger picture wants a transformation so that Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak can continue to move ahead," he said at a "1Malaysia dinner with the Deputy Prime Minister" function that was attended by more than 1,000 people here.
The opposition pact launched the manifesto themed "Sarawak4Change" that outlined 10 policies, simultaneously in Sibu and Kuching today.
Muhyiddin said that in the last general election, they promised the "moon and the stars" but till today had not done anything for the people.
As an example, he said, in the last election, they promised to give allowances to single mothers, takaful contribution of RM2,500 for every senior citizen, and a reward of RM1,000 for each Selangor citizen who gained admission to university.
"But none of these have been fulfilled till today. I hope the people in Sarawak will support efforts pioneered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak like the Government Transformation Programme, Economic Transformation Programme and Political Transformation Plan aimed at making Malaysia a high income nation," he said.
